Layin' Low Calf Elk Painting

.

While we were hiking in Wyoming, Ron came upon this calf elk layin’ low. The calves are somehow told to stay put by their mothers as a safety measure.  When a predator comes along, the mother runs off to distract it away from her baby. I like how it’s nestled in among the sage. It brings to mind how we sometimes need to just hunker down & “lay low” to recharge ourselves.
